This series is inspired by the characteristics of Love mentioned in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a.
The focus of todays blog is Love is Patient in 1 Corinthians 13:4.
There are several Greek and Hebrew words for the word Love which are found in the Bible.
The words are as follows:
Hebrew word: Ahab or Ahav (Single word used for love in Hebrew)
Greek word: Agape (Unconditional love)
Greek word: Agapao (Gods love)
Greek word: Eros (Romantic love)
Greek word: Phileo/Philia (Friendly love)
Greek word: Philadelphia (Brotherly love)
Greek word: Storge (Familial/ Family love)

The Greek word for Love in 1 Corinthians 13 is agapé meaning love or goodwill.
Agapé has the following definitions:
The active/unconditional love of God for His Son and His people. The active love His people are to have for God and each other even enemies.
A type of meal shared by Christians (love feast)
The love of God or Christ for Mankind
Now that you have an understanding of Love according to 1 Corinthians 13.
I will move onto defining the characteristic of being patient.
The Greek word for patient in 1 Corinthians 13 is makrothumos which means being long-spirited.
The dictionary definition of being patient is "bearing provocation, annoyance, misfortune, delay, hardship, pain, etc., with fortitude and calm and without complaint, anger, or the like."

Synonyms of being patient include...
Long suffering
Forbearing
Being tolerant.
In conclusion, love is patient means that you endure the hard and difficult things. This does not mean that you should stay in a harmful or abusive situation.
Loving with patience enables you to persevere and overcome in all circumstances.
